New analytical methods for the determination of ascorbic acid content in aqueous extracts of flesh, peel and seeds of pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima)

ABSTRACT. The main objective of this research was to develop a simple, rapid, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly methods for determining ascorbic acid in flesh, peel, seeds pumpkin. Ascorbic extracted from the different parts pumpkin water. content three determined using ATR-FTIR UV-VIS methods. method validated determine at 1046 cm-1, results indicated linear range 5 50 g/L; R2, 0.999; LOD, 1.7 LOQ, 5.2 RSD, 0.09% 0.65%, %recovery 95.86%. also 265 nm by that revealed 1 12 mg/L; 0.25 0.75 0.12% 0.43%, 96.96%. Accordingly any two newly developed can easily be applied quantitative determination seeds. Both yielded higher than flesh peel. spectroscopic are green, low cost rapid method. However, showed sensitivity method.
